Youth Coordinator

Scope & Responsibilities: The Youth Coordinator is responsible for planting, growing, and cultivating an active, vibrant, holistic, faith-focused program for youth ages 11 through 18 at St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church, located in Issaquah, Washington. The Youth Coordinator will encourage parent/guardian support for teen activities and events; fundraise for the annual mission/pilgrimage; connect regularly with other youth leaders in the area; and attend youth leader conferences as recommended.

The Ideal Candidate has:

  • One or more years of experience leading church youth groups comprised of middle and/or high school students, or equivalent experience leading similar types of teams or groups;
  • Strong written, interpersonal, and phone communication skills;
  • Proficiencies with email, text messaging, social media, and other communications methods.

Candidates who do not meet the above will be considered and a personal development and training program developed to support growing into a stronger youth leader.

Safe Church Requirements: If selected, the candidate must submit to a background check and complete Safeguarding God’s Children and Safeguarding God’s People training before beginning work.

Role & Relationships: The Youth Coordinator is a part-time, nonexempt, hourly employee of St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church. The position functions September through May, plus one week for the mission/pilgrimage in midsummer (usually in early July) and one summer event (usually in late August). The Youth Coordinator is supported by and reports directly to the Associate for Youth Formation; the Youth Coordinator is also supported by the Rector and Vestry.

Compensation: On average, the Youth Coordinator works 20-24 hours per month. The wage range is $20.15-$22.10 per hour, without benefits.
